Alert: War in the Middle East and Surrounding Regions
As of February 28, 2026, a major and active military conflict has unfolded in the Middle East and surrounding region following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes into Iran. This has triggered a rapid military escalation and retaliatory strikes from Iran across multiple countries in and around the region. As the situation in the region continues to develop, we sincerely hope that you and your traveling companions are safe and unaffected by the ongoing events.
These acts of war have caused widespread and ongoing disruptions to regional and global travel operations, including closed or restricted airports, airspace, maritime routes, and border crossings across the region. Travelers may experience cancellations, diversions, or extended delays. Further, the U.S. Department of State has issued increased travel warnings for the region, including multiple countrywide or localized “Level 4: Do Not Travel” warnings, with further changes possible. They have also urged all U.S. citizens in the region to leave via commercial means due to serious safety risks.
With respect to insurance coverage, Allianz Travel Protection Plans sold to U.S. residents generally do not provide coverage for any loss resulting directly or indirectly from any one or more of the following: war (declared or undeclared) or acts of war; government acts, prohibitions, travel warnings or advisories; or fear of travel. Please note this is not an exhaustive list of coverage exclusions that may apply. However, for a temporary period in response to this evolving emergency situation, to help protect the health and safety of our customers, we are currently accommodating certain emergency medical claims incurred in the impacted region as well as certain trip interruption and travel delay claims for customers who were in, or in transit to, the impacted region on February 28, 2026. See additional terms and details in our coverage alert.
Please read our full coverage alert for more information, including regarding our assistance services, coverage exclusions, and temporary accommodations.
